Well. We are mere weeks into 2021. Seems like things are as weird as ever. Regardless if you're chomping at the bit for life to get back to normal, or enjoying that mullet zoom work attire (business on the top, pajamas on the bottom), what it all boils down to is this: where them bangers at? Don't worry, the few short weeks of this new year has provided us with some great tunes. So before I try to make more jokes, let me update you on what Ive been listening to lately.
SYML
I had tickets to this show. Which got postponed and then cancelled due to the virus that shall not be named. Covidmort? Anyway. Over the last two years I have fallen in love with SYML's style and voice and just overall moody, mellow, and enjoyably depressing vibes. SYML has blessed us with two new tracks so far and they are both dynamite. Both tracks feel like a step forward in production and sampling from his previous stuff, which had a more indie acoustic feeling. This just takes his music to the next level for me.
Bangers
Not only do I miss going to shows and experiencing live music, but I miss being out in crowded spaces with music blaring so loud I can feel it in my bones. Like up in the club. Workin' on my fitness. It's just not the same thing trying to enjoy these bangers through my tiny little airpods. But regardless, these are some upbeat tunes that you should have on any hype playlist. For your party of one.
I won't highlight everything Im listening to. Ain't nobody got time for that. Instead, I will update the Hot Tracks playlist with a bunch of new tracks for you to check out! But I will leave you with one more.
Billie Eilish
I'm not sure I love how much I love her music. She annoys me. But. Her music is brilliant. It's relatable and honest on so many levels. It ranges from melodramatic to silly and everything in between. There's a reason she is one of the biggest artists out the right now and I can respect her for trying to pave her own way and stay true to herself. One of her latest tracks just hits all the right notes for me. It's emotionally charged, it swells in all the right places, and it's in Spanish. And you know, like Weezer said in their new track "All my favourite songs are slow and sad". This is me.
Don't forget to check out some of the other music on the hot tracks playlist! I'm a big fan of the new Lana Del Rey track. And as always, thanks for stopping by. Stay classy.
